Flames had already engulfed the rear of Tyshea Greene’s Canton rowhome early Tuesday morning when she awoke to a neighbor’s pounding on her door.

It was just before 3 a.m. when the blaze broke out in the 3000 block of Hudson Street, eventually consuming eight houses and four roof decks, according to Baltimore City fire officials. Footage captured on a neighbor’s Ring camera shows a burst of flames and sparks whipping through the air over rooftops and decks.

Fire officials initially said there were no injuries in the incident, but neighbors were left picking through their charred possessions later in the morning.

One man loaded a set of undamaged golf clubs into a car. Meanwhile, Greene’s belongings were soaked and strewn across the sidewalk. Her own rental home and everything in it were a total loss, she said.

“I’m still in shock,” Greene said. “I haven’t had a chance to feel anything. I’m not angry, I’m not sad, I’m just grateful I got out of there.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation, fire officials said. The Red Cross and other emergency response organizations were on scene assisting Greene and others displaced by the fire.
